The Inauguration App Trap

Pfc. Sandoval, Pat Macpherson, Ashley Wells, Wisdom Quarterly

Our Fearless Leader has been collecting data on unsuspecting supporters. If one wants an "easy" way to navigate the long weekend's Inauguration festivities, it won't be cheap. It says it's free, but the app will cost users -- in terms of unwarranted surveillance, personal data farming, and subsequent fundraising solicitations. Of course, wherever the Democrats go, their doppelgangers the Republican aren't far behind. Just as Bush and Cheney set the agenda, Obama is doing his job of follow through. Everything was set up by the previous administrations to play out according to MIC dictates. And Obama is the point man in getting through more draconian measures than either of the two previous would-be dictators ever could. Of course, Obama is a kinder, gentler, almost benevolent emperor, and he is certainly a far better speaker. This would seem to make him less trustworthy than previous right-wing administrations. But we wave our flags, admire MLK Jr., and wonder how much worse things could have been with bumbleheaded sure-to-lose Mittens Romney.

The New Data Mining by Political-Firms-for-Hire?
(NPR) The Presidential Inaugural Committee released a smart phone app this week to help people follow inaugural events in real time. It has maps of the parade route, volunteer opportunities and real-time updates. It also has an invisible feature -- the app could be mining data for Democrats. AUDIO
